The village of Seyne-les-Alpes is located 3 km from the Gîte des Silves, at a height of 1,200 m. This village of just over 1,440 inhabitants is home to many shops and is therefore considered to be "the capital of the Valley of the Blanche." Seyne-les-Alpes is famous for its citadel built by Vauban in 1692 (it can be visited) and for mules which is a specialty since the 18th century (a mule contest is held each second Saturday of August). A weekly market is held on the Place d'Armes every Tuesday and Friday morning.
